"Simplify, then add lightness" has always been the philosophy of Lotus. The Elan is a milestone in the history of the Lotus brand. The Lotus Elan was the first street car to roll out of the Lotus factory with the backbone chassis. The backbone chassis received a body made from fiberglass, resulting in an incredible weight figure of approximately 600kg. Powered by a lotus twin cam engine with double Weber carburetors the Lotus Elan ensures driving pleasure.
This Elan has been fully rebuild in house and is still configured in RHD, as it came from the factory, and has driven 16.200 miles. This specific car is chassis number 53, one of the first Elan's to be ever produced. Fun fact about the first Elan's, only these early cars came with an ashtray in the centre console. All the body work has been upgraded to the type 26R style, as well as the wheels. Furthermore the Elan is fitted with the type 26R chassis braces and adjustable shocks. The Lotus twin cam engine has also been fully rebuild.
